Do I get a prize for bravery?
When Brittany lost her front tooth, we celebrated the occasion. It was a big deal!
"Will the space in my mouth get a big girl tooth?"
"Yes! It's on the way," I lamented. "You're growing up way too fast."
"Will the Tooth Fairy come?"
"If you put the tooth under your pillow," I said.
When we were getting ready for bed, Brittany placed her tooth under the pillow with great care. She also put a rolled-up piece of paper next to the tooth.
"What's that?" I asked.
"It's a letter to the Tooth Fairy. I just want her to know what happened."
"That's a good idea," I said. "Let's turn off the lights and go to sleep so the Tooth Fairy can visit you."
"Okay, mommy." We hugged and kissed good night.
Brittany finally nodded off to sleep, allowing the Tooth Fairy to deliver a prize and find the letter below...
This picture of Brittany and her letter were sent in by Julie Saloman, Palos Verdes, CA.
Losing a front tooth is a big deal to a kid, but breaking a tooth is downright scary, deserving of a medal for bravery! I love how kids trust in a magical being delivering a surprise! What wonder fills their hearts and minds.
This letter is not only funny and sweet but is filled with a knowing of something wonderful manifesting in the universe. It reminds me to see the cup half full. I can also manifest wonderful things in my grown-up life and see the magic around me. Thank you for this poignant lesson, Brittany! Until next time, I'll be pondering... THE KID DID WHAT?
