When Charli started school, she was a bit shy. She was content to watch from the sidelines as her peers performed in school plays and programs.
And then… she turned thirteen! She arrived home from school one afternoon, announcing…
“When I grow up, I’m gonna be a singer.”
“Really?” I was more than a little surprised.
"You can be anything you want to be,” I said. “You just have to work hard at your craft.”
“I work hard, Mom."
“I know you do, Charli. But frankly, I’ve never heard you sing.”
“Well Mama... I sing in my mind. And in my mind, I’m really good!”

When our kids are born, we encourage them to try anything that interests them in the hopes they will find their niche in life. But we expect to see their passions worked out in the material… not in the mind! To kids, it’s all the same! I have to laugh when I think…
